On April 2nd, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province released a list of ten "treasure small towns" across the province. Chibi City was successfully selected for its profound historical heritage, breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural atmosphere. This ancient city, which carries the memories of a thousand years, has entered the public eye with a brand-new look and become a new pearl of cultural tourism in Jingchu.
As the site of the Battle of Red Cliffs, Chibi is steeped in a thousand-year-old epic. The two characters "Chi Bi" carved on the cliff are vigorous and ancient, depicting the smoke of war in The Three Kingdoms period. In the ancient battlefield, the live-action performance "Red Cliff · Riding the East Wind" recreates the battle legend through light and shadow, making the thousand-year-old history tangible and perceptible. Yangloudong slabstone street built in Ming and Qing Dynasties is lined with black tiles and lush greenery. The deep ruts on the bluestone slabs bear witness to the prosperity of the Ten-Thousand-Mile Tea Road. The aroma of the black brick tea continues the century-old cultural heritage.
In terms of ecology, the scenery of Chibi is uniquely charming. The 24,000 mu of wild cherry blossoms on Gexian Mountain cover the entire mountain. The Lushui Lake is a vast expanse of blue water and dotted with thousands of islands. Xuefeng Mountain and Longyou Hot Spring complement each other beautifully, combining grandeur with leisure, fully demonstrating the beauty of ecology.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of human culture, Chibi fish cake and black brick tea carry regional characteristics. The intangible cultural heritage skills such as oil-paper umbrellas and bamboo weaving have been passed down from generation to generation. The slow-paced life atmosphere in the bustling streets and alleys forms the most charming backdrop of the small town. Today, this small town, which combines ancient charm with simple joy, is quietly awaiting visitors from all directions to enjoy its unique tenderness and poetry together. (Xianning Daily/Jian Bo)
