On　July　24th，　2026，　the　first　Xianning　Veterans＇　Chinese　Chess　Tournament　to　commemorate　the　90th　anniversary　of　the　victory　of　the　Workers＇　and　Peasants＇　Red　Army＇s　Long　March，　was　held　at　the　city＇s　University　of　the　Third　Age．　Veterans　from　six　counties　（cities　and　districts）　across　the　city　gathered　together　to　make　friends　through　chess，　reliving　their　military　years　and　carrying　forward　the　spirit　of　the　Long　March　on　the　small　chessboard．

This　event　is　hosted　by　the　Xianning　Municipal　Veterans　Affairs　Bureau　and　organized　by　the　Xianning　Senior　Chinese　Chess　Association　and　the　Xianning　Association　for　Caring　for　Veterans．　It　adopts　a　computerized　points－based　system　and　consists　of　five　rounds　of　competition．　After　a　brief　opening　ceremony，　the　competition　officially　kicked　off．　Although　the　veterans　participating　in　this　competition　were　over　fifty　years　old，　they　were　full　of　energy　and　played　the　game　calmly．　On　the　chessboard，　＂soldiers＂　came　and　went，　＂cannons＂　flew　and　＂horses＂　leaped．　Every　gesture　and　movement　exuded　a　composed　and　wise　demeanor．

After　a　fierce　competition，　the　individual　awards　were　finally　determined：　Tang　Zongyong　from　Chongyang　Team　won　the　first　place，　Hu　Linqi　from　Tongcheng　Team　took　the　second　place，　and　Liao　Qingyang　from　Tongshan　Team　claimed　the　third　place．　In　terms　of　teams，　Chongyang　Team　won　the　first　prize，　Tongshan　Team　won　the　second　prize，　and　Chibi　Team　won　the　third　prize．　Jiayu　County　was　awarded　the　Excellent　Organization　Award，　while　Xian＇an　District　and　Tongcheng　County　received　the　Sportsmanship　Award．

The　person　in　charge　of　the　Xianning　Municipal　Veterans　Affairs　Bureau　stated　that　this　Chinese　chess　competition　aimed　to　provide　a　platform　for　all　veterans　in　the　city　to　exchange　ideas，　compete　and　enhance　friendship，　and　to　strengthen　their　sense　of　belonging，　honor　and　happiness．　（Xianning　Daily／Chen　Jing）
