In Chibi City People’s Square the sound of gongs and drums filled the air and jubilation reigned everywhere that day. With the sound of drums and suona horn dragon lanterns were dancing vividly, and lion dance was lifelike; Yangge dance and lotus gathering boat minor joined in merry-making in succession……thousands of citizens were intoxicated with happiness.
“Folk performance is worth watching, and it shows Chibi’s cultural charm.” said Wang Jia who is working in Zhejiang province over clapping his hands, “I always feel the atmosphere of Spring Festival is lighter and lighter in the countryside, but this year’s performance made the traditional atmosphere come back, and made folk arts in Chibi hotter and hotter.”
In the west of the square tea art show was in progress. In the square there was folk culture shows, such as waist drum, urheen; folk artisans and painting and calligraphy fans in Chibi performed unique technique, such as paper-cut art, bamboo carving, and etc; Communities Literary Artists Association and the masses organized red song singing, traditional opera show, and etc.
The fair sponsored by Chibi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal government and co-sponsored by Chibi Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department would last from Feb. 13 to 16. On the day of Lantern Festival Chibi will organize literature and art joint performance, such as guessing lantern riddles, enjoying festive lanterns and paper-cut painting, and etc.
