  XIANNING - Ding Xiaoqiang (Deputy Secretary and Mayor) on Wednesday led heads of municipal organization establishment office, municipal finance bureau, and municipal bureau of human resources and social security to investigate teaching reform of primary and secondary schools directly under municipal government, urging to boldly explore innovation and deeply promote teaching reform to improve education quality and efficiency. Xiong Zhengyu (Member of the Standing Committee and First Deputy Mayor) and Zhen Fangsong (Deputy Mayor) attended the investigation.

  Ding and his team checked construction site of east channel of Wenquan Middle School and Xianning Experimental Primary School, and held a symposium to hear the report on teaching experiment and reform by Xianning Experimental Foreign Language School and the speeches on teaching reform by other schools.

  The schools directly under municipal government are building urban integration compulsory education management system, exchange of presidents and teachers among compulsory education schools, and the second classroom in order to improve quality, build brand and enlarge influence. Xianning Experimental Foreign Language School persists in running school and reform concept of “recognizing diversity, providing choice, developing potential, diversified development” to actively conduct reform exploration and foreign exchange, making certain achievements in team construction, education and teaching and students’ development. Heads of Xianning Experimental Primary School, Wenquan Middle School and E’nan Senior High School discussed on teaching reform content based on “score, quality”, centered on “specialty, capacity”, around “classroom pattern, teaching method” respectively.

  Ding pointed out that education is an important livelihood project, involving thousands of households and mattering to long-term development. It should solve the problem of “all school-aged children are able to go to school” and the problem of “receive good schooling”. To promote teaching reform is aimed at strengthening vitality of education work and shortening gap with developed regions, laying a foundation for a galaxy of talents in future with current efforts.

  Ding stressed that school teachers are the most important factor influencing children’s growth. So it should enhance teacher training and cultivate teacher’s ethics of loving study, having specialty and able to teach; encourage to introduce excellent teachers, implement strict screening test and performance assessment, increase interschool teacher exchange, and improve teaching ability and level; unify textbook and choose difficult textbook to develop students’ potential, check and ratify education quality and level with joint examination; seriously research curriculum to foster and keep children’s learning interest, letting them get lifelong benefits from school education.
