Xianning added 10 new products under national geographical indication protection

Recently, in the list of "National Geographical Indication Protected Products" issued by the Announcement No. 640 of China National Intellectual Property Administration, 10 characteristic agricultural products of Xianning, including "Baishuifan Radish" passed the identification. So far, the number of national geographical indications recognized in the city has reached 56, including 39 national geographical indication certification trademarks and 17 national geographical indication protected products..

In order to further promote the unified recognition of geographical indications, the work of transforming the geographical indications of existing agricultural products across the country was initiated by China National Intellectual Property Administration in 2024. The city has actively organized the transformation and application work, achieving an efficient transformation of agricultural product geographical indications into geographical indication protected products throughout the city, with a conversion rate of 91%. These products include Tongcheng Pig, Baizhangtan Tea, Baishuifan Radish, Xian'an Brick Tea, Xiangyanghu Lotus Seed, Chongyang Wild Osmanthus Honey, Tongshan Black Tea, Jiugong Mountain Tea, Chuangwang Sand Pear, and Dafan Loquat.

The successful transformation of these ten products marked that these products have obtained higher quality certification and protection, thereby achieving unified recognition and management of geographical indication products, establishing a standardized and unified geographical indication management and protection system, and providing a more complete institutional guarantee for the construction of high-quality agricultural product brands in the city.

As a "golden brand" highlighting regional characteristics and cultural heritage, the geographical indications have become an important means for the brand building of agricultural products in the city.

The city will continue to deepen the cultivation, management, application and protection of geographical indications, explore local favorable resources, and strive to build a brand matrix of characteristic agricultural products with geographical indications as the core, so as to increase the usage rate of special marks for geographical indications, expand brand promotion channels, and contribute to rural revitalization and high-quality economic development.
