According　to　the　Flood　Control　and　Drought　Relief　Headquarters　Office，　Xianning　City　has　initiated　the　flood　control　Level　IV　emergency　response　at　4：00　pm　on　May　18th．

According　to　the　meteorological　department＇s　forecast，　from　May　18th　to　20th，　there　will　be　heavy　to　torrential　rain，　with　some　areas　experiencing　extremely　heavy　rain，　accompanied　by　short－term　heavy　precipitation，　thunderstorms，　strong　winds　and　other　severe　convective　weather　in　the　city．　The　cumulative　rainfall　during　the　process　will　be　40　to　80　millimeters，　with　local　areas　receiving　over　100　millimeters．　The　maximum　hourly　rainfall　intensity　will　be　30　to　50　millimeters，　with　gusts　of　6　to　8　on　the　Beaufort　scale．　According　to　the　provisions　of　the　＂Xianning　Flood　Control　and　Drought　Relief　Emergency　Plan＂，　the　Headquarters　Office　decided　to　initiate　the　flood　control　Level　IV　emergency　response　at　4：00　pm　on　May　18th．

The　Headquarters　Office　urged　that　after　the　activation　of　the　level　IV　emergency　response　for　flood　control，　all　localities　and　departments　should　closely　monitor　water，　rainfall　and　engineering　conditions，　focus　on　key　areas　such　as　reservoirs，　lakes，　large　ponds，　mountain　floods　and　geological　disasters，　and　urban　flood　control，　and　do　a　good　job　in　scientific　dispatching　and　strengthening　prevention　and　response．　All　levels　of　responsible　persons　should　be　on　duty　promptly，　strengthen　inspections，　and　deal　with　any　dangerous　situations　in　a　timely　manner　and　report　them　immediately．　（Xianning　Daily／Tan　Hongyu）
